On this web site we share key measures that allow us and our stakeholders to see how we manage our operations and strive for EH&S excellence and 10,000 percent compliance (100 percent of employees in compliance 100 percent of the time). Tracking that performance and, where possible, comparing it to an industry average, allows us to benchmark our progress and make adjustments where needed.
We also provide examples of how we are using resources more efficiently and addressing challenges and opportunities. For example, Flint Hills Resources sites have earned 57 awards from local, state, national and international organizations for safety, compliance and environmentally responsible operations. What’s more, our refineries decreased emissions of commonly regulated substances by 17 percent from 2008. Our overall OSHA recordable incident and lost-time injury rates are well below the industry average and we reduced our process safety incidents from five to four in 2009.
