EH&S Policy

ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY

Flint Hills Resources believes that a systems-based approach to environmental performance results in value for the company and society.

This commitment is reflected in the company’s sustainability vision: Create long-term value for society by using resources more efficiently; protecting the environment and the safety and health of our workers and others; and consistently applying good science.

All these approaches are framed by our application of Market-Based Management®, our business philosophy. Ultimately, these contribute to the overall quality of life.

EH&S GOALS AND KEY STRATEGIES

100 PERCENT COMPLIANCE

Personal commitment: Employ only those personnel and contractors who exhibit a commitment to achieving our EH&S policy.

Management systems: Implement, sustain and continuously improve our environmental and health and safety management systems. Training is provided to all employees to maintain a healthy and safe work environment.

Audit: Regularly audit our assets and business practices, promptly remedy shortcomings, and report as legally required.

Integrate: Fully integrate our EH&S policy and management systems into all operating, planning and decision-making activities.

SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE
Zero incidents: All accidents, incidents and violations are viewed as unacceptable. In the event an incident occurs, the response and appropriate corrective action taken will be in a timely and appropriate manner. Our assets will be designed, constructed, operated and maintained with the goal of eliminating hazards and minimizing releases.

Safe facilities: We expect all work to be done safely, every day. Clean facilities: Waste and emissions generated will be among the lowest in our industries, per unit of production, and historic contamination will be managed to minimize environmental impact.

Clean fuels: Provide the market with clean fuel alternatives. Industry leadership: Identify opportunities for industry-leading initiatives. Open communication: Openly and regularly communicate EH&S goals and performance to employees, customers, contractors, regulators and the public, and continue community outreach initiatives.
