Community Stewardship

At Flint Hills Resources, philanthropy is more than writing checks to charitable organizations. It is a clear set of activities that build strong partnerships and demonstrate results in the community.

Employees participate in a variety of educational programs. They provide instruction and mentoring in programs like Big Brothers Big Sisters, Engineers in Schools and Junior Achievement as well as providing access to hands-on environmental stewardship education. Others support the Driscoll Children's Hospital, Habitat for Humanity and the Salvation Army, among other worthy organizations. Employees and their families help restore and maintain local parks and nature preserves; they also clean up highways and waterways in their communities.

Some of the local and national organizations that Flint Hills Resources works with include these:

Wildlife Habitat Council
Science Museum of Minnesota
Project Green Fleet
Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas

Great Plains Nature Center

Not only does Flint Hills Resources stress environmental responsibility within its daily operations, the company also works on many fronts to improve the environment outside its fences. In fact, three Flint Hills Resources sites are certified by the Wildlife Habitat Council for their success in managing and attracting wildlife.

In addition, the company supports other community groups and emergency response agencies near its facilities with in-kind contributions of equipment, furniture or needed supplies.
