Flint Hills Resources is a leading U.S. producer of ethylene and propylene at its olefins crackers in Port Arthur and Odessa, Texas. Ethylene and propylene are basic chemical building blocks used to manufacture a variety of products such as trash bags, automotive parts and medical devices.
The company's Port Arthur cracker has capacity to produce 1.4 billion pounds per year of ethylene and 800 million pounds per year of chemical-grade propylene, which are both sold into the merchant market with pipeline access to many major delivery points in the U.S. Gulf Coast and the lower Mississippi River regions.
The Odessa cracker has capacity to produce 800 million pounds per year of ethylene and 300 million pounds per year of propylene. Most of that production is converted on-site to linear low density polyethylene, low density polyethylene and polypropylene in the polymers facility.
